 West Elementary School
Douglas County schools are among the state's finest. USD #491, with a total enrollment of 976 students, comprises two elementary schools-Nottingham, which was built in 1965 and enlarged in 1975, and West, which opened in 1994-as well as a middle school which was the former new in 1995 high school and a "state-of-the-art" high school which opened its doors to students in the Fall of 2003. The schools were built with foresight that the student population will increase. The middle school has a capacity of 350 students and its auditorium, which may be rented for community programs, will seat 440.
Eudora Nursing Center
Because we value all our citizens, from youth to elderly, our senior citizens also may take advantage of a number of recreational and service programs. The 1OO- bed Eudora Nursing Home is regarded as one of the finest nursing facilities in the area. Pinecrest Apartments I and II provide low-cost subsidized housing for its elderly residents. One special activity enjoyed by young and old alike is the Annual CPA (Central Protective Association) Picnic held the third weekend in July.
