| Douglas County schools are among
the state's finest. USD #491, with a total enrollment of 976 students,
comprises two elementary schools-Nottingham, which was built in 1965 and
enlarged in 1975, and West, which opened in 1994-as well as a middle
school which was the former new in 1995 high school and a "state-of-the-art" high school which opened its doors to
students in the Fall of 2003. The schools were built with foresight that the
student population will increase. The middle school has a capacity of
350 students and its auditorium, which may be rented for community programs,
will seat 440. |

| Because we value
all our citizens, from youth to elderly, our senior citizens also may take
advantage of a number of recreational and service programs. The 1OO- bed Eudora
Nursing Home is regarded as one of the finest nursing facilities in the area.
Pinecrest Apartments I and II provide low-cost subsidized housing for its
elderly residents. One special activity enjoyed by young and old alike is the
Annual CPA (Central Protective Association) Picnic held the third weekend in
July. |
